Winter holiday, part 2

So what did we do the rest of our winter vacation you may ask:

We painted the bathroom after having taken down the ugly wallpaper and smearing the walls with some awful green snot that should keep the water out.

We enjoyed the white result. Oh, the bliss of it.

We banged on a barrel just because that’s what Danes do at shrovetide. Yes indeed. Beating that barrel ’til it falls to the ground.

We named my dad both “cat king” and “cat queen”. Meaning that he took the barrel down. Normally the queen would be the one who made the bottom of the barrel fall out, and the king would be the one who took down the last piece of the barrel. My dad managed to take the whole barrel down in one stroke. I’ve never seen that before. And I’ve hit some barrels in my life.

We took photos of the real cat kings.

We walked in the mist by morning and found pretty country homes hidden in the fog.

We made green cakes with Swedish flags in them. And ate them while watching great films and silly films.

And then we took more naps.

The end. And back in town – yay! Sort of.

Anch’io ho avuto una piccola vacanza d’inverno a Lisbona… ma la mia attività, al contrario della vostra, si è ridotta a quella nella quale vediamo Rosina eccellere…

    Avete ragione Rosina e tu!
